Problem wih converting stl to step

Hello,

I have a problem with converting stl to step.

On the first picture you can see the part, after I hit buttton " convert to a base feature" it creates only one polygon which you can see on the second picture.

Any Idea how to solve this ? Picture 1Picture 1

Thanks a lot, Adam zezula

Hi Adam,

Mesh Enabler is a subscriber-only tool developer by Inventor team and published on Inventor App store. It is free to all Inventor subscribers. The tool was meant to allow Inventor users to reference Mesh to create Brep-based geometry. It simply converts each mesh element as a Brep face. Then you can stitch the whole thing as a quilt or a water-tight solid.
On Inventor 2017, Inventor can already reference mesh geometry directly without having to convert the mesh. You can create sketch and project edges from the mesh directly. On Inventor 2018, drawing views can be created from mesh geometry. As you can see, mesh indeed makes its way into Inventor and actively participates in various workflows. More to come for sure.
Brep -> Mesh workflows are pretty much all done. You can open any Brep-based part and export to mesh and then print it. The trouble is more with Mesh -> Brep or Brep -> Mesh -> Brep. So far, Inventor and also other Brep-based CAD tools do not have streamlined workflows yet.
Jeffery did a great job to show how it works but it depends on the quality of your source mesh file.

I am sorry, but who is Jeffery and how did your video exactly help me ? I do not want to be ungrateful, but why do I get only one polygon instead of a whole part ?  I have installed Autodesk Mesh Enabler already, othewise I would not have the option " Convert to base feature"

Thanks a lot for an answear

Jeffrey here - you had a missing surface, tiny hole, in your part.

See attached.
