Probe Lables not working

I have run my simulation and it looks good. But when i go to use the probe labels nothing happens. So I looked around and saw that it says failed to retrieve value. I have attached a jpg and it shows this in the btm left side of the screen.

How can i fix this?

Thanks

Amos

Hi Amos,

Can you check couple of things:

1. Do the values of the position (x,y,z) look correct on the left bottom panel.

2. Can you probe for values in the undeformed configuration. Do you see the same issue?

Thanks,

Ravi Burla

Hi Ravi,

The position is off from the orgin by quite a bit. I did not really pay attention when i placed the components.

Other than that the coordinates seems fine.

When i switch to the undeformed configuration the prob is still not picking up the stress values.

Should I try and compile a new assembly?

Thanks for your help

Amos

This issue happens to me as well. I notice if you zoom closer to the area you would like to probe, it will fix it allowing you to pick the desired area. Perhaps this will work for you.

Hi Amos,

The probing command looks for the probe point and maps it to the surface triangle (of the mesh) on the model and interpolates the value at the probe location based on the the FEA solution on the mesh.

So, sometimes its possible that the probe point could not be mapped onto mesh surface triangles and it could cause the failure to look up the solution.

One work around as GSE Consultants provided is to zoom / pan the model and check if the probe values work. If you are seeing this issue on many probe locations, and the workaround is not working well,  please post the model and we can look into it.

Thanks,
Ravi Burla

So I decided to recompile the assembly in a new file and everything is now working as it should.

Also i tried zooming in with the old file and that was not working for me either.

Thanks for all the help

Amos
