place from vault... not working

Hello,

I am using autodesk inventor 2009.

I am new with using the vault. I am trying to place a sub-assembly into my new assembly. The file is in our vault, but I can't use the "Place from vault..." button because it is "grayed out". I think I am logged into the vault, because I logged in via the vault explorer. Any idea what I'm doing wrong?

This doesn't have anything to do with me using a network license version of the inventor software, does it? I can't find any help within the help files or online on this subject.

Thanks!

Do not use Vault explorer for placing components. Log into Vault from
inside Inventor. Note: yo uMUST have a Vault project active in order to
access Vault and "Place from Vault". Have you had training?

Close Vault Explorer window.

Go to the File menu in Inventor,

File> Autodesk Data Management Server> Status

Make sure that the Server Name, User Logon Name, and Vault Name are correct.

You might also try the Check Connection link in the same dialog box.

Try opening vault explorer from the file menu in Inventor. File> Vault> Launch Vault Explorer, and see if the Vault option is still grayed out.

Sounds like you just dont have a connection between Inventor and Vault.

Also make sure you are using the correct Project file in Inventor and that it is a Vault project.

Hope this helps with your troubleshooting.

Yes, I have had training, but not specific to the vault functions. See attached photo.

OK, it was because I was using the wrong type of project file. Thanks so much for your help.
