Pipe run coordinates

Hi everyone,

I will soon need to put pipe parts on a drawing and I must include the coordinates for everything not on a single plane.

many of my pipes were developed inside the assembly and do not start on a part plane or the origin.  I have attached An example.

Is there a way to show the pipe development on a drawing with the origin at one end so that coordinates have a starting point on the pipe?

I could move the pipe to the origin but that would move it in the assembly and I would have to go back and relocate every pipe.

I have never had to provide coordinates on a drawing so I hope there is a simple process for doing this that I just don't know about.

Thanks, Steven

You can add a UCS feature easily to the end of the pipe you want to use as the start (select the center of the pipe for the origin, and the tangent lines of the bend radii for defining X and Y directions).

Once the UCS is placed, you can reorientate the Front/Top View to match the workplanes included on the UCS feature.  Now create your drawing based on the View Cube.

Not sure what a coordinate drawing looks like for you - but this might at least give you the orientation you need.

Peter,

This is exactly what I needed.  I can pull coordinates for each point and add it in a chart on the drawing.

Thanks so much for the tip!
