Phantom Parts Showing up in Detail and Section Views

Anonymous
Not applicable

Scenario: Existing .iam assembly and drawing file, with various views, details and sections. Several instances of identical phantom assemblies have been added to this assembly.  Drawing and BOM update as expected and everything appears fine.

Now, if I was to update a Section View or Detailed View by adjusting the location or size of the cut lines or call-out balloon, these phantom assemblies will show up in the modified detail or section view.  Even if they are 10 feet away in the model, the view will now expand to show them and only them.  Trying to cycle their Visibility in that view does not work, and cycling Associative on and off in that view doesn't work.  Trying to crop the view to exclude the phantom parts in question also doesn't work.

If I place an identical detail or section view, the view appears as expected.  I can also now modify this view and the phantom parts do not appear randomly.  Although this is a fix, I cannot replace, re-balloon, and re-dimension every section and detail view if I need to adjust that particular view.

I have included a screenshot of a view that I moved off screen to protect some drawing details. The rectangle with fasteners off to the left is the phantom assembly that has been recently added, and despite the fact that it is quite some distance away from the cut lines, it insists on being included in the view.

Hi! The behavior does not look right. Could you share the files here or send them to me directly (johnson.shiue@autodesk.com)?

Many thanks!

Can you select the view from the model browser window, then expand the model and turn the visibility of the items off. You would need to RMB and deselect the "Visibility" for each item. Or if they are all listed together and use the Windows selection convention options of either "Shift" or "Control" select.

If I try to cycle the Visibility off as you described nothing happens.  Right clicking on the part again after I've tried and Visibility still has a checkmark.  That's the first thing I tried unfortunately.

You might try creating new View Reps or LOD's in your IAM file with these parts suppressed and use those views in your drawing.
