Pattern Edit Problems

Anonymous
Not applicable

Hello all, I am running into an issue where when I go to a pattern in an assembly, and select edit... to change a component of the pattern, the entire assembly disappears when the pattern window comes up. once I select close on the pattern window and it goes away, the entire assembly comes back.

I have tried reinstalling Inventor, uninstalling and then re-downloading/installing the program, but the problem is still persisting.  Has anyone come across this issue, and is it a setting that I am missing, or does it have something to do with a third party add-in in my Inventor?

Any insight is helpful, Thanks!

I can't say that I've seen this issue before.  To eliminate the possibility of it being a 3rd party addon you could disable all addons and see if the problem still persists.

Hi! Is it specific to the assembly? Or, it happens to all assemblies you have tried? Could it be an invisible workaxis or or workplane (very big or far apart)? How far are the components located away from the origin?

Many thanks!

At most the parts are located 150'-0" apart.  It has happened on more than one assembly, seems to be something with my program settings, as this issue has come up on multiple projects.

Hello,

thank you for taking in interest in this issue.  i cannot share the file due to proprietary information on the model, but i can tell you that it is not an issue with the file as i have had coworkers open the same file from vault, and the issue is non-existent.  we have narrowed it down to a problem with my machine.

another issue would be that my machine and inventor program on my machine is not reading quantities the same as co-worker's machines.  along with this pattern issue, when i save and check the model back into vault, and have them open the drawing on their machine, their machine reads different quantities than mine did.  this is minutes apart and multiple times, not just once.  multiple models that are not related and multiple times throughout the last month.  this is also after i have completely uninstalled Inventor and vault, and then did a nw install of the programs.

the only thing i can think of is that there is a setting somewhere in the program on my machine that is saved and continuing through a reinstall that my co-workers do not have selected.

any help or suggestions are helpful.

thank you!

Hi! The issues do not sound right to me. They sound like file issues or setting issues. But, I have not heard something like this before. Try a few things.

1) Go to All Programs -> Autodesk -> Inventor 20xx -> Tools -> Inventor Reset Utility -> reset all settings back to install default.

2) Make sure all critical Windows updates are installed and graphics driver is updated.

3) Go to %temp% in File Explorer and clear up all files there.

Where are the Inventor files stored? If you store them locally, are the behaviors still reproducible?

Many thanks!
