Pattern Component

See attached.

I would like to "Pattern Component" across the grid shown.

But I cannot "select the component" shown in the lower left corner using "Pattern Component".

I can select the component using "Mirror Component" and "Copy Component".

I'm using 2015 and the component is an iCopy adjustable assembly.

Hello!

I've placed a standard part in the grid assy. and I was able to pattern it across the grid, but I'm still not able to do it with the icopy part. Do I need to configure the icopy part in some manner?

I've never used iCopy.

Have you run through a tutorial, like this: http://help.autodesk.com/view/INVNTOR/2014/ENU/?guid=GUID-8E787BA8-4B74-4888-8A09-1706A6CF8BE0

I’ve been through most of the I Copy YouTube video/tutorials including the one you mention.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M4qgZPv0O_Y This video met my need perfectly and I’ve been able to duplicate it exactly, up until the point of Pattern Component as I explained.

Is the video producer available for discussion?

I'd hate to have this question buried behind new posts. A lot of viewing and kudos to swalton for their reply, but nothing beyond just that one.

The YouTube video I attached was able to accomplish this task. Is this a bug in the software? Could it be version issue? is this an unanswerable question?

Feeling abandoned...

Thank you for offering to help me with this. Once this issue is resolved it should duplicate the system shown in the YouTube video. I looking at 16M zip file and I'm not familiar with this forum, so I'm just going to attempt to attach it here.

Thank you for trying Thaddeus.

Are there any other takers on solving this issue?

Is Rob Cohee available?

I took a look at it a few nights ago.  I was not able to get it to work either.

I had to add a feature pattern, as a seed for the assembly, to the skeleton part.

One thing that I noticed was that I had to use the iCopy tool to try to pattern, not the normal pattern tool.  I got a few warnings that led me to believe that the window assembly might be a problem.

Does the window adapt do different sized openings correctly?  I was not able to test that.

I too figured that the pattern needed to be done with the Icopy, and had very similar thoughts on whether the assembly could be flexible in the way Icopy needed it to be.

Reviewing your window assembly may lead you to finding the cure to your pattern issue.

Both the Master window assembly and the iCopy window assembly adjust to different sizes correctly as I adjust the master skeleton and as I adjust the elevation grid skeleton.

I also thought of introducing a second ipt and patterned it to try and mimic the video with Feature Pattern, but I hit the same problem... I cannot SELECT the iCopy window assembly. I can select it if I want to Mirror or if I want to Copy, but not Pattern.

When you say you used the iCopy tool to pattern, I'm not sure what you mean?

I don't have an example here at work so my memory might be a bit off...

I used the icopy tool to place the first instance of the window assembly.  I then used that same icon and selected the first instance and got more options and tabs.  Its a weird workflow.

Hi Gerard.Storella,

In the iCopy tool there is a pattern tab as shown:

Pattern iCopy.JPG

I hope this helps.
Best of luck to you in all of your Inventor pursuits,

Thanks, but that will only pattern in one direction, using the horizontal or vertical grid lines as an iCopy rail and is not what I'm looking to accomplish.

I wanted to use the standard Pattern Component that Rob Cohe used in his video that offers a pattern in two directions but I cannot select the icopy assembly using Pattern Component, I can select it if I Mirror Component or if I Copy Component, but  not Pattern Component.
