PATTERN AN ELEMENT IN SKETCH

I am in sketch environment and doing a circular pattern of the small circle but the preview is in black and I am using a black background so when I am in wireframe I cant see the pattern.

Can I change the colour or does Autodesk have to change it.

@AnthonyHarris90842  I checked but couldn't find it. and even in regedit I visited the place in the photo but got lost. Sorry I can't help but I guess this option is not available in inventor. The challenge is not over yet, if I find it, I will share it.

Hi Folks,

I don't think there is an option to change the sketch preview color. The quickest thing to do is to make the part transparent temporarily. Right-click on the part in the assembly -> check "Transparent."

Many thanks!

Surely it should be changed.
Of all colours why black.
We always have to work around silly stupid things that are so easy to fix.

Hi Johnson

Has anything been done about this black array colour yet?

Easy answer is to not use patterns in the sketch environment, make them features, much more stable and easier to edit.

Sketch driven patterns though work very well

As per @Mario.VanWiechen why oh why are you using sketch patterns rather than the more computationally efficient, functionality more powerful Feature Pattern?

What color scheme are you using, and what version of Inventor?  In my Inventor 2024, using the stock Wonderland color scheme, this is the sketch pattern preview that I see:

I get a preview in white also with dark mode and all other themes with Inventor 2024.

I do wish the answers on here when a feature is not doing what someone wants is to tell them not to use it at all.

There are times you still need patterns in a sketch, you might not even turn them into a feature. Not using it is irrelevant to the problem.

Hi! I have trouble reproducing the behavior. I need to know what exact color scheme is used and the preview is set to black.

Many thanks!

Hi Johnson

I attached a copy of my applications options file which should have the settings for the colour scheme editor.

Use copy of high contrast and then you will see you should get the black preview like I do.

When I change to the other colour schemes then its ok but I cant which setting controls the preview colour

Hi Anthony,

Many thanks for sharing the App Options. This is indeed the Color Scheme related. It seems that "3D Thick Line" option can control the behavior. Go to Tools -> App Options -> Colors -> Color Scheme Editor -> select the color scheme -> Customize Schemes -> Sketch -> find "3D Thick Line" and change its value to 2.

After that, the sketch pattern preview will behave normally.

Thanks again!

Hi Johnson

Thank you very much. that fixed it.
What an obscure place to hide the preview colour .
It should just be named preview or something like that and you choose a colour like everything else, not a number.
I thought those number relate to line thickness.

Once again thank you for always being so helpful
