Parts/Assemblies Randomly disappearing in .IDW Section Views

We are experiencing random part disappearance in our Section Views.  (see pictures below)

Our office has a mix of Inventor Factory Design Suite and Inventor Pro with the Factory Add-in because Autodesk doesn’t sell Factory Design Suite anymore……..   Users of both software’s have experienced this problem.

As you can see in the first picture below, the lower right balloon with #18 is pointing to a spot that is empty.  Clearly, this balloon was placed while this part was visible as the balloon is connected and talking to the Parts List.  The missing part was identified and located in the browser.  As you can tell by the right click options, the part visibility is on and transparency is off.  Also, selecting “Include All Surfaces,” does not fix this issue.  What does fix it, is completely counter-intuitive.  If you select “Transparent” the object comes back.  That is the only way to bring parts back after they’ve disappeared. (See second picture)

I have had problems with visibility issues in the past that were resolved by deleting cached views of the drawing.

To do this, close all programmes. Open windows file explorer. Type %temp% into the address bar. Delete everything that can be deleted. Re-start inventor.

Let's us know if that helps?

Hi Chris,

The behavior does not sound right to me. Something is wrong. Could you tell me what version of Inventor you are using? Could you share the files with me ([email protected])? I would like to take a look and understand the behavior better.

Many thanks!

Thanks for the tip!  We'll try it and see if it helps.

If it fixes our problem, is there some kind of setting in Inventor to not store as many of these temp files?  Or should I have a discussion with our IT department about clearing out the temp folder once a week?

We're operating under 2018 and also seeing this from one of our branches, unfortunately we are not able to share the file.  Ours are randomly disappearing on main views, however.  The only fix thus far has been to recreate the views and all associated dimensions, leaders, and created children views (sections/details); using the Change Reference Model option as a reload attempt does not resolve.

Chris,

Cheating on me with a group of users I see....😀

Just wondering if by chance was this view referencing a view created by Level of Detail or View Representation?

Also, is it set to "Associative" or is that unchecked?

I know we've seen this type of thing happen here when the view was created by way of LOD and or had the Associativity checked off. I'm working on getting training videos made to cover such, but balls in the air, lots of balls in the air.
