Part sketchs are visible through entire assembly

Hello All,

Long time user, first time poster.

For some background: My company does electronics, and we move some 2d data through autocad and then into Inventor to create a board model which then has sketches of the layout and ref des.

We have a new Inventor user and the sketches on the PWB models are visible throughout the entire assembly. I will see about an example picture if I need to. The end result is that any orientation the assembly is in there is a mess of lines and text overlaid from these part sketches. His machine is the only one that this behavior occurs on.

View ribbon > far left icon in orange > turn off sketch in the visibility control.

^^ Or right click on the sketches in the parts and uncheck visible..

By default unconsumed sketches are visible.

So to clarify here is what we are encountering. The image on the left was captured on the new machine and the right hand image was taken on my machine. There are some differences since this assembly has some local parts on the new machine and then perspective vs ortho, but it is the same assembly file. Hopefully this helps. What I am wanting to get rid of is the sketch always being visible from any angle.

Let's get some more clarification.

I can see sketch in both of your images.

In one image the option to display through part is turned off.

From that I suspect that you don't want to get rid of sketch always being visible, but rather, from showing through bodies?

If I have deciphered the issue correctly - move this slider to zero.

As mcgiver said probably. That looks like a single sketch so just open the file and turn the visibility off on the sketch.

If it still shows you need to dig down in the browser in the assembly and turn it off there.

If I understand right, you are seeing the sketch on one machine and not the other.

This could be because of the visibility settings I mentioned earlier, or view reps.

View representations are used to turn visibility of things on and off. If one of you loads on master and the other for instance 'view 1' you could see different items visible or not.

Yes!

You hit the proverbial nail on the head. Many thanks. That took care of it for him.
