Part missing in drawing view and in model browser tree, exist in BOM

After migration from Inventor/Vault 2017 to 2020 a total of 103 drawings (till now) are missing a part in all drawing views. The parts is also not listed in the model browser. But it is listed in the BOM.  See capture and example data set.

When I open the iam the part is visible without errors. When I open  the ipt, no problems.

The part is also missing when I create a new drawing and place a new view from the iam.

Annotations attached to the missing part are sick or missing

Does anyone know an fix?

Because we really need these drawings I did try to get it working again. After several hours I did find a way to use the drawings again.

When the, in the drawing, missing part is deleted from the assembly and added again (replace does not work) and all constraints are added again the drawing will open correctly, except for annotations connected to the previous missing part.

Off course above must be done for every problem drawing (we have at least 103 drawings with this error) when copied or revised.

Estimated damage for the company if this is not fixed is 10000 euro.

I've been struggling with this bug for the past 2 projects that I've worked on as well.  Some parts just refuse to be visible.  Or they are visible in some views but not others.  No amount of toggling of transparency/hidden lines/visibility/etc will make the part remain visible unless "transparency" or "hidden lines" settings are turned on.

This is driving me absolutely crazy because how am I supposed to complete drawings for my customers when I views with missing parts???

I currently have a large bridge crane design, my drawing has the assembly in an ISO view and all parts show up.  As soon as I add a top view of the assembly, random gussets, washers, or bolts will just disappear without changing anything else.  I have spent 2.5 hours this morning trying to fix this stupid issue........this is time that I could have spent actually doing my job and making a deadline that I promised to my customer.

This is absolutely ridiculous.  WTF Autodesk.

I've tried a new drawing template, new views, rebuilding geometry, toggling everything on and off again, making sure section participation is turned on.

This is such a stupid problem to have.  I literally do not know how I'm going to finish this drawing for my client at this point without spending hours trying to fix this.

Hi CamperUnhappy,

I have seen this behavior before. It can be a bug. For whatever reason, Inventor thinks the bolts need to be hidden. It can also be due to bad geometry, pre-existing component interference, design view corruption, out-of-bound geometry. Without seeing the files, it is impossible to tell.

Please share the files here or send them to me directly ([email protected]). I can take a look and see where the problem is.

I understand this defective behavior is offending. Although this is a public forum, let's maintain mutual respect. We just want to understand the issue and get to bottom of it.

Many thanks!

Hi Jan_T,

your assembly was created in R10 SP2 and migrated to 2020 version using 2020 RTM build. Seems the migration issue was fixed in 2020.1 update. Is it possible by any chance to re-migrate original dataset to 2020 using at least 2020 Update 1?

Thanks

Ladislav

Dear Ladislav,

Sorry for the late reply; I was on holiday.

Inventor 2020.2 did fix this issue for all affected files.
