Part Materials

Hi,

I have been tasked with making iParts for everything we make.
The table for one part is currently 30 rows deep with widths & lengths & they also want 60 different materials for each part.
This will make the table unruly so I was wondering if there is a way for me to import my iPart into an assembly & then change its material from there so I only need to model it in 1 material.

I have tried this myself but it says the material must be added to the part file.

Thanks

You could put the parts into Content Center and then work it from there. You can make selections of components based on materials, sizes etc. Just a thought.

Hi! Another option is to create custom iPart where at lease one column or one cell can be customized (user-input value on placement). In this way, you don't need to tabulate all the permutations of the variable values.

Many thanks!

Thank you both for your solutions.

I have added my iPart to a custom content centre library but it only has the options for the sizes that I created using the iPart.

Is there a way to add new rows to it once it goes into the content centre?

Hi! Yes, just go to Content Center Editor and edit the particular family table.

Many thanks!
