Parameter driven Text field

Hi Gang,

I have created a part that I want to make an iPart. The part is a electrical component. The parts all have the same size and physical configuration. What I want to do is add a text field to the top of the part that I can control via a table. That way when I insert the component into an assembly I can be sure that the part number on the part is associated with that particular dash number.

Where it says "TEST" I want to be able to assign the text to a field in the table of the part and be able to adjust that text in the table to change with each different part.

I hope all this makes sense. I have attached the IPT file.

Hi! Text parameters are not yet supported in iPart. But they are supported in Model States. You may be able to convert the iPart to Model States quite easily.

1) Simply edit the iPart table in Excel -> save the table as an xlsx/xls file.

2) Delete the iPart table.

3) Create a new Model State.

4) Edit the Model State table in Excel -> copy and paste the content from the Excel file to the Model State table.

There could be slight formatting difference. But it should be plug-and-play.

After that, you can add a text parameter to the table to drive the change you like to see.
