Parabolic mirror

Hi .

I am trying to construct a parabolic mirror for my project . I want the focal length of the parabola as 55mm. When i enter the parameters in equation as x=t , y= t^2/4*55    it shows me almost a straight line . I was doing it in creo with ease but i dont know what im doing wrong in inventor.

The method im using for this to draw a parabola and then revolve it around the y axis , and project my beam on to the shape after the revolve and then cut it out from it. I also have problem to cut the section of the projected beam , i was using extrude feature in creo but here it doesnt work.

Any kind of help is appratiated.

I am adding the ipt file as reference.

Thanks

Hi! I think there are a few issues with your equation. You probably started the file in English and enter the equation as such. Then you changed the unit to mm. The equation already has English unit value. Also the Parabolic equation was wrong.

Here is what you need to do. Edit Sketch1 and edit the equation curve. Change 1 in to 1 mm. Add () to 4*55. Then the curve will be in the right scale.

You may need to change your default template unit to mm. Go to Tools -> App Options -> File -> Configure Default Templates.

Many thanks!
