Pack & Go under the new name

Hello,

Let's say I have an assembly and a drawing of it ->  Assy_1.iam & Drw_1.idw

I want to make a copy of my assembly and give a new name to it. Ex.:  Assy_2

Also, I want to make a copy of the drawing that will have a new name as well. Ex.: Drw_2.idw

And I would like, of course, that new drawing recognizes the new name of the assembly from which it is created. So that if I look at the link of the Base view that link will reference to the new assembly. 

Is that possible in Inventor with Pack&Go or in some other way?

Use Vault's Copy Design tool, or Inventor's iLogic Design Copy as exemplified below (select the drawing in your drawing portion of the window and it should select the assembly and parts related to it):

Just to double-check, in this way, the reference of the base view in the drawing will also change to the new name of the assembly, correct?

The Vault copy design or the Inventor iLogic design copy should keep the references as in the original files. That is, yes, the new drawing should reference the new assembly.

Thanks for the youtube, it has helped. Is there a way as in SW to rename the new files to any name/number you want?

Hi Paul,

Pack&Go is merely a way to replicate the entire design (files) and put them elsewhere. You will need to use Design Assistant to do that.
