outrageous rendering time.

Hi everyone.

I am currently rendering an image of a very simple 3D model. I already had the same problem over and over so this time I decided to ask for a hint or two from people who surely know Inventor more than I do.

Why on earth the rendering process is taking so long? From the data I managed to collect from the internet I know that rendering time depends on the number of lights and general model complexity, besides CPU speed and type (dual, quad, etc.).

My CPU is an Intel Core i3-4130 CPU 3,40 Ghz | 3,40 Ghz.
I also have 8 GB RAM

If the issue is the CPU I would ask you if you could please indicate me some CPU specs (e.g. multithreading yes/no etc.)

I will post a picture showing the rendering time. Will provide extra info if needed.

Thank you in advance. :).

Paul

I've included a couple of links, the first is a great thread on systems and their performance.

The following is the Autodesk System Requirements for Inventor 2018

The limited system information you provided shows it to be on the low side for Inventor.

having the rendering set to until satisfied will cause it to run forever if you are never satisfied.

I see where your machine has made 17k iterations, I never have used much more than 500.

Rduce the iterations to something reasonable and try again.

Dear Hosford,

Thank you for your reply 🙂

Unfortunately Inventor requires a lot of iterations to generate a decent image. I am attaching a picture of something made with more than 9k iterations and still with poor definition.

Thank you again 🙂

Dear Blair,

Thank you for your reply. Will see the articles and figure out what is needed to boost the process. Unfortunately my pc is a low budget pre-assembled one.

Thank you again. 🙂

Hi Paul,

The machine barely meets system requirement. You can run Inventor on such machine but you won't get the performance. You would need 16GB RAM or more. Inventor graphics is multi-threaded and multi-core enabled. With decent hardware, you should benefit a lot from the ability.

There might be room for improvement in terms of rendering. Could you share the Inventor files with us (jonson.shiue@autodesk.com)?

Many thanks!

Dear Johnsonshiue,

Thank you for your reply.

The issue, as you all told me, is in the poor performance of my machine. As soon as I get a job again (hopefully as a mechanical designer again) I will spend some money for a decent pc. 😄

Thank you again for your help.
