opening part change measure unit

When I get a file from a costumer, or partner, step and also inventor parts ipt. the measure unint change in from milimeter to inch. but only in that file.

why is that. is it couse it´s that measurement they use or?

Go to Tools>Document Settings and set to desired Units.

Verify that the dimensions make logical sense.

It could be several different issues.

The origninal designer might not know how to set up proper default units.

The original designer might be using inch units rather than metric.

The software the original designer used might not include the Units information in the STEP file.

For example, make sure 100 inches did not get converted to 100 mm.

When measuring the part in the desired units - the measurements should be correct.

I always make controll measurements after change.
is there not a way to always have milimeters, even when I import others 3D parts?
