Opening a multi-body ipt file without deriving the part

Hi Everyone,

I have made a part with multiple solid bodies with Inventor LT 2021. I am trying to open the part file using the standard Inventor 2020 but it automatically derives the part and I can't change anything because it doesn't have a history tree. Is there a way to open the part file using Inventor 2020 without deriving the part?

Thanks

Inventor doesn't support backwards compatibility with regards to the model tree.

Inventor only opens newer versions as dumb solids, so you'd need to rebuild all the features.

You will be able to open it in 2021 without deriving, but not 2020. That is because Inventor has to essentially convert it back to 2020. There is a feature recognition tool that may be of use to you if you have a subscription instead of perpetual license, but I don't have much experience with it and therefore don't know how useful it would be to you. Your best bet would be to stick with 2021
