OPEN STP FILE WITH INVENTOR

Ok, so I got the file type associated with Inventor.  So, I go download a .stp file and most of the time, Windows will open it in a new instance of Inventor.  Anyonw know a way to have it open in the same session as I already have open?  Thanks

Click on it in Explorer and move it on Inventor's top line.

Hi CosmosK,

I'm not sure how helpful this will be, but:

I used to open a lot of vendor STP files from online, and had my system setup to have STP files associated open in the active session of Inventor automatically from the web. But I've not been able to get it to work like that lately, now it opens a new session.

That was back on Windows XP, Inventor 2010, with a standalone license. I've not been able to get this to work with newer Operating Systems, and newer versions of Inventor, and now I work mostly on a network license. I don't know if one of these things has anything to do with it?

I don't have this need much any more, so I havn't spent any real time trying to figure out how to get it to work again.

I hope this helps.
Best of luck to you in all of your Inventor pursuits,
Curtis

I get this dialog when I download a .stp in Mozilla:

STP OPEN.jpg

If I select "open" a new instance is what I get.

Here however, I can drag and drop as mentioned:

I was hoping someone knew how to get the first thing to work.  I guess it doesn't.  Oh well.  Thanks!
