OBJ files scale and save as STP

Hi,

I recieved some .obj files and imported these, see attachments.

When i import them, they create some type of 'mesh?' body type and the scale are not correct and I can't figure out how to work these files properly. I tried deriving but the body dissapears. Also saving the part/assembly as STP makes the body dissapear.

My goal is to be able scale these bodies inside my assembly or part, and create a STP file.

Can you Attach the original *.obj file here?  (might have to zip first)

OBJ triangular mesh are generally rubbish.

OBJ quad meshes are sometimes good quality.

Start a new file of correct units.

Import the mesh (don't open directly).

Run the Autodesk Mesh Enabler to convert to solids (but why do you need solids)?

Mesh Enabler | Inventor | Autodesk App Store

The quality will never be better than the source. (in this case - poor quality)

Why are you getting these as obj rather than as STEP?

Link to mesh enabler to convert meshes to solid bodies..

https://apps.autodesk.com/INVNTOR/en/Detail/Index?id=6950391119076900441&appLang=en&os=Win64

OBJ files are unitless so you need to specify the intended units in the options when opening the file.

Thanks for the reply.

The files are supplied to me, i asked for a different extension but this is all they can supply.

I have attached the .obj file as .zip.

I downloaded mesh enabler but i don't get the button to convert inside inventor.

@Daan_M  Install the addin.. Then in Inventor go to tools...add-ins and ensure that "Autodesk Mesh Enabler" is set to "Loaded/Unloaded (checked)" and "Load Automatically (Checked)"

Then start to open the file and before you press the "Open" button after selecting the file press the "Options" button and set the intended units of the file to ensure the scaling is correct..

Then after the file is open right click on the mesh node in the model browser as shown in this image and select "Convert to Base Feature".. Then pick solid and voila..
