No nuts in bolted connection with custom bolt

I have a problem with a custom bolt in the bolted connection.

I want to add DIN 15237 to the content center. I thought it was succesfully done, but with the bolted connection I can't select a nut.

What is the best procedure to make a custom bolt to work with the bolted connection?

Hi! I guess the standard libraries required in this workflow are not included. Close all files. Go to Get Started -> Projects -> click on Configure CC Library (the button on the right at the bottom) -> make sure DIN standard is included.

Many thanks!

The standard libraries are checked in the project file. When I change the custom bolt to a Din931 the nuts are visible. But with my custom bolt they don’t. So I think I missed something when I publish the custom bolt, but I don’t know what.

Hi! Please share the custom bolt here so we can take a closer look?

Many thanks!

Hi,

when I open your bolt, it seems bolt has not been authorized. Components/part used in AddIns like Bolted Connection / Frame Generator / Tube & Pipe have to authorized. So you need to authorize our bolt.

I did this before publishing the part. But then I can't select a nut in the bolted connection.

Can you test this for me? And tell me what I'm doing wrong?

This bolt is a custom bolt. I want to use this custom bolt in the bolted connection. But then I can't use the standard nuts in the bolted connection like DIN 934 for example. So I thought I did something wrong with the publishing of the bolt.

Sorry, I see what you want.

Your bolt is OK,  but no nut pairs with your bolt, right?

correct. It needs to work with the standard nuts in the content center.

I tried doing the same steps with a standard bolt and I get the same result so I think I do something wrong with authoring or publishing to the content center.

Hello,

basically there is nothing wrong with bolt you made, model is nice 🙂

Based on Content Center / Publish recommendation and my suggestions:

- there are some parameters duplicates (like r, R) and Content Center is not case-sensitive, so r=R which is wrong

- can be resolved by rename, but in your case by Purge parameters since not all parameters are used/required

- make your bolt iPart (even it has only one member/row)

- add Thread info into iPart table (Class, Designation)

- re-author (hex Head category is OK even your bolt is not hex head)

- all should be fine like I see on R 2020.3

(Seems like your current bolt version has a thread somehow incompatible with nut thread.)

Thanks it works perfectly with inventor 2020.2.2.

What is the Grip Length from the bolt? It's not clear to me which parameter I need to link.

It should be distance between end of thread and bottom head side. But to be honest, inspecting existing bolts from Content Center, it is something else, e.g. constant value / number (not parameter).

Sorry, no clear answer
