Newb, inventor having weird errors

Gentlemen

I'm new to Inventor, just following along this tutorial https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5PWqsRynm5I and I ran into some problems. Using Inventor pro 2019 , on Windows 10 u1909 x64.

First I run into template problem when creating new part/assembly. Only time I don't get it is new presentation.

I tried googling for answer but didn't come up much, access rights isn't the problem. Reinstalling doesn't help either.

The following will make more sense if you follow the tutorial video, I'm referencing the URL with the time stamp of the section.

I made the screw hole just like in the tutorial says at 32:17 https://youtu.be/5PWqsRynm5I?t=1937

Next up I follow through to 54:54 https://youtu.be/5PWqsRynm5I?t=3294 and start setting up the bolted connection. Here's where the discrepancy starts. In the tutorial video, you can see that the presenter's inventor picks up the hole's diameter to be 6mm automatically. Mine didn't. It stayed at 0.25mm.

No matter, I carry on, setting the diameter to 6mm manually, pick my bolt, washers, nuts, create the set, etc... and then try to apply the connections and this is what I get.

The error isn't very descriptive, and I'm a newb on top of that so I have no idea what's wrong to fix.

There is another problem that is probably relevant but kind of fixed itself easily. If you look at the tutorial video at 51:52 https://youtu.be/5PWqsRynm5I?t=3112 , the extruded leg of the carrier is then have "Adaptive" flag turned on. I made the carrier twice because of the bolt hole problem thinking I did something wrong, so in the 2nd time making it, I turned on Adaptive already before going to the assembly. When trying to setup the constraint like in the tutorial, Inventor throws error of conflicting constraint. I thought it was weird, double check that adaptive is indeed turned on. Just for giggle, I turned off adaptive, save, turned on adaptive again, and setup the constraint, all from inside the assembly view, now it works.

So those are the weird errors I got... Adaptive flag somehow needing reapply, screw hole doesn't get detected automatically, and bolted connection runs into error when setting up. On top of style conflict. I already tried reinstalling Inventor, as mentioned above, and that didn't make much difference.

Any help is much appreciated.

Thank you.

Hello @Anonymous,

Welcome to Autodesk community!

Regard to the style confliction, please click prompt and select the 4th option to stop telling for ever.

Make sure you have made Hole in that particular part rather than in assembly which means you have to double click that part to edit in-place and adding the hole.

Because you have make an assembly level hole feature, then, you can't apply another bolted connection, so please remove that assembly hole and recreate the hole within a part.

Hope these helps!

Hi! I believe you are on Windows 10 build 1903. You need to install 2019.4 update followed by 2019.4.3 update (or the latest update).

The other issue might be related to the following thread.

Many thanks!
