Need help with Inventor 2017 3D PDF Template

Anonymous
Not applicable

Hi,

I'm trying to create my own 3D PDF Template. For the document title I want to put the part and revision number in an Array. I attached a picture so you can get a clear picture of what I'm trying to achieve.

I've got very little to no experience at all with writing code or whatsoever, so I'd really appreciate if someone could help me out here!

Thanks in advance,

Damon

Hi Damon,

Welcome to the forum .....

Can you share your template with me..

Also can you verify you got the 2nd set of templates that came with the SP1 / R1 update?

Mike

Hi Davis,

I attached my template to this post.

Also I have trouble putting in the Creation Date. I added this value in the Javascript of the document in line 847. If you'd know a solution to that too, that'd be great!

A third problem I am experiencing is that since I removed the view box that came with the original template my front, back, bottom, top ect. view buttons don't work anymore. Any idea why?

I checked my inventor version. It's the 2017.4, the most recent version. I do not know how to verify I got the second set of templates.

Thanks!

Damon

What I have.PNG

What I have so far,   However .. What I'm thinking is:

I haven't seen where you can have 2 properties in 1 coding session (still looking) ..

But, I can make them come together in a custom iproperty, and have that custom iproperty populate the Header/Banner field where you want  the Name and Revision togother.

Hi,

Haven't seen the two properties in one line either. But since you are putting it in a table "||" you could divide it. That way you can put in two properties in one line:

{{{ topComponent['Part Number'] }}} | {{{ topComponent['Revision Number'] || "" }}}

It will split the table in half so your revision will be in the center of the table.

If you want them closer together maybe two text fields side by side could be a idea?:

Textfield: {{{ topComponent['Part Number'] || "" }}}       texfield:  {{{ topComponent['Revision Number'] || "" }}}

@mdavis22569: what code did you use for the date?

They shouldn't be both in the same pull...  but that's me and my logic of thinking (it works though)

What I have 2.PNG

I like the divide, but I'm really like the Custom iproperty (that's just me) as I can keep them right next to each other.

For the date:

Creation Time

Do you also have the command for the 'Modified' date? I guess that's more relevant for me than te creation date. Any updates on the view buttons I'd like to know that too.

The Custom property solution works great! Now I just need to implement that in my part and assembly templates so I dont have to set the custom property for each part or assembly that I make.

By the view buttons I mean the buttons in the attachment.

Thanks for your help so far!

You can modify them to whatever you'd like ( I don't know exactly how, but it's in the coding)

I use view reps instead ...

As for the Modified Field:   I was told that this is  bug and to report it...so I did

PR:1524 (3d model Modified field won't populate in 3d PDF)
