Need help on making this object on Inventor.

So, I am trying to make this object to 3d print, but I am not good with this software, and dont normally use 3d modeling software, but I really wanted to print this, so I made it in google sketchup because it was a lot simpler, but I need it done on inventor. So can some one guide me on how to make this, or if some one can do it, and send it to me that would be great.

What version of Inventor?

Can you attach the *.ipt file of what you have attempted?

I am using inventor 2011. And I do not have anything really to attach because I pretty much have very little experience with the software, and I dont even know how i would begin making this object on inventor.

I cant create a native 2011 file.  But here is a video showing how I did it.  I also attached a 2015 part (which you cant open) and a .stp file that you can import.

Like Kirk, I no longer have Inventor 2011, so I can't post a file for you to open.  Here's a completely different technique to create the same shape, starting with the pointed shape, then using an intersection circle extrusion to achieve final shape.

wow that looks perfect. Do you think you can send me the file anyway, because I also have a version of 2015 I can use when I get home. and could you make the size of it, 1 inch tall, and 1 inch in diameter?

Here it is for you. IV2010 format. Metric units.

Cheers,

Igor.

Here you go.  This is only one of several different ways to approach this-- Kirk showed you one in his video, and I'll bet JD could come up with three or four others.

can you open the part I posted and tell how it was built?  I did the video originally because the OP could not view my model (he has an older version of Inventor).

If you still need help, post back on here.

Hi Folks,

There are multiple ways to do this. Here is a not-so-well-known workflow using Parting Line Draft. Without creating any sketch, it can be done in one shot.

Many thanks!
