Need help from an Inventor wiz!! Face draft problem

I would greatly appreciate anyone who can help me out here.

So I made two plastic parts that will assemble into one case. Because it will be for an injection mold I need to draft it.

I first made the parts like A in the picture.

Then by using face draft I drafted both sides using the same angle values.

However they do not line up like shown in C.

I am assuming this is because the left part and the right part have different lengths.

1. How do I get it to line up like B? Can it be done by using the face draft tool?

    I imagined using either loft or tapered extrusion as a solution but the shape is complex and would like to avoid it and use face draft tool if possible.

2. The black line is the base of the case so I would like it to be flat. Are there any work around for this kind of situation?

    IF there is no other way but to draft it.. can I give it less than 0.5 degrees? (It is about 40mm deep and the wall is 3mm thick)

The easiest way to make mating parts with draft is by using multi-body solids techniques.

The fastest way to get help is to attach your *.ipt file(s) here, and if the design is proprietary - simply make up a dummy solid model (similar to your pretty pictures) and attach that here.

Hi! If I understood your issue correctly, you will need Parting Line Draft. This means the parting line will be pushed out instead. Another option is to use Ruled Surface command to create the draft faces. It is a bit hard to comment further without seeing the model. Could you send them to me directly ([email protected])?

I actually used the option right above the one you suggested, "fixed plane" face draft. And it worked great!

It was 5am when I encountered this problem and was not able to see what was right under my nose!!

But anyway thank you very much for your answer it was of great help!

I haven't tried this option since the answer was simpler than I expected.

But I will still give this a try later for educational purposes.
