Multiple Sheets and AutoCAD Blocks

Multiple Sheets and AutoCAD Blocks

Hello all,

I am back with another question. Yesterday I was working on a set of drawings. I created multiple sheets for the particular job that I was working on, my first time using the multiple sheets option. At the end of the day before I left the office I clicked save, as usualy, and then left. When I came back to pick up where I had left off all of my work was gone.

I tried to do some of my own investigation and found a couple things.

1) All of my drawings were now located in "AutoCAD Blocks" under Drawing Resources. (See photo)Screenshot (7).png

2) There was only one way for me to see my drawings on the same sheet in the format that I had put them in yesterday. That was to do the following..

 - Click Open

 - Select my drawing

 - Click Option on the bottom

 - Check mark "Fast Open"

 - Hit Okay then open up my drawing

After clicking "open" I recieved this message/"error"

Screenshot (5).png

If I click "OK" then the drawing will open up but all of my parts will have a question mark next to them.

So my question is this. How do I get my drawing sheets the way they were yesteday, wtihout the question marks? I have kept each part stored and organized very carefully on my hardrive, as to not have an issue with misplacing a file or losing its location.

Any and all help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Seth

Are you using Projects (*.ipj)?

Did you use Windows Explorer to move files around after creating the views?

Try Manage>Update All Sheets  what does Inventor report?

I am not using Projects (.ipj).

I did not move any files around before or after creating my drawing sheets. I had made all of the parts a couple days before (sheet metal). Before creating the drawing a went through each part and created a flat patern then saved the parts in the same location as before.

I tried what you suggested. I went to Manage then clicked Update All Sheets. When I clicked on Update All Sheets nothing happened.

Any more suggestions?

1. Start using Projects - trivially easy to do, and really only need one.

2. Attach the drawing file and one of the part files here.

I asked about moving, but forgot to ask about renaming.  Did you rename any of the files?

Have you installed Update 1?

I did not rename.

The step 1 and 2 process worked. Thank you, sir.
