Hello, I am fairly new and don't have that much of an in-depth knowledge of inventor, i am trying to learn how to make a plate or anything move up or down when a handle is turned on a threaded rod thats attached to that plate. I was wondering if anyone could point me in the right place to learn more

Drive Constrain comes to mind. But it is hard to tell from your post if it is up your alley yet. Give it a try anyway.

Cheers,

Igor.

i know the handle wouldn't attach or move like that, was just using it as a learning tool. I'd like to make the rod to have a relationship to the handle so when it moves one way it rises and spins.

See if you can make it work similarly to this example here: https://autode.sk/30fIuAE

You can apply a combination of Tangent constraint and Rotation/Translation, and even remove the visibility of the "gear" part to make it seamless (Part3, inside my assembly sample attached also here to this reply):

See more help about the motion constraints here:

Look at the help info for a motion constraint. There’s a similar thread not far above this one about turning a handle and moving a plate relative to the handle rotation…https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/inventor-forum/i-need-to-find-a-way-to-have-an-object-move-linearly-w...
