MOUSE POINTER SELECTION/HIGHLIGHTING PROBLEMS, ZOOM PROBLEMS, AND MORE!

Hello,

I've just had Inventor Professional 2013 installed on my laptop machine, i had previously been using 2011.

Now i'm having problems with the mouse pointer properly highlighting sketch or part features. For example, if i hold my pointer directly over the center point on a line, it does not highlight (green dot). Then, if I move the pointer along the line (say, like a quater inch), the center point becomes highlighted (but not the line). Then if i click, the line becomes selected. So I basically have to ignore what's highlighted green and click directly on the un-highlighted sketch feature and hope that's what it thinks i want. Basically, nothing is being highlighted directly on the pointer. Same problem with part features. I can't properly select edges to radius etc.

Also, when i zoom in/out with my mouse wheel, the view seems to take a jump in the opposite direction before zooming in the proper direction.

Finally, after ever input i give, i have to move the mouse to see the changes take affect.

I'm hoping these problems are all symtomatic of the same issue. Memory? Video driver?

Any advice would be great!

Have you looked at the mouse settings within control panel?  Middle mouse button set properly?  How about updating the mouse drivers?

Are you having issues with any other programs regarding the mouse?

Have you restarted your machine recently?

Hello Scott! Thanks for the reply.

All my mouse settings and drivers are as they should be and up to date.

I'm not having any similar problems with any other software.

Machine is started every day.

I've been having these problems since installation of invpro 2013 many days ago.

Any other suggestions?

No change Scott. Still highlighting features that are not under the pointer.

Do you use a space pilot or any device similar to it?  Are you alone with this issue in your department?

You didn't happen to backup your settings when you were using 2011 did you?

Had this before and it might be due to your video card. Might be older than you want to admit or need to update the video driver.

Go to Tools / Options / Hardware and change to Software graphics. This should only be used to troubleshoot video card problems.

If the problem is no more then you have the answer.

I just use a typical mouse, Logitech Anywhere MX, with the same Logitech Setpoint software i've used for years. I've even traded the mouse and usd dongle out at another workstation in the office (same Inv version, same application options for selection, same Logitech software, settings, etc), and everything works great. I'm the only one out of three machines with this problem. I've even tried just using the track pad on my machine, same problem.

I have imported my settings from my previous Inv 2011 version.

Mr S.

You are a saviour!

Yes, indeed my video card is dated. Turns out that the lastest video driver for my machine crashes it... so it's still living in 2011-12'ish, as per my I.T. Guy.

The Software Graphics option is the solution.

You may have possibly saved my I.T. Guy from an untimely demise!

Thank you!
