Motion on adaptative Table

Hello,

in my table design, I would like to create limits and motion for the upper plate of the table.

I am not sure about which relationship to use : joint or constrain ? and then which options etc.

 

So the upper plate in made out of 2 parts. In front view, the upper left part should move to the left and the upper right part should move to the right. Then there is a free space in between to place another piece of wood to enlarge the table.

 

I would like your support to define the proper relationship for my upper parts and create this motion (including the limits).

Hi David,

 

These pretty pictures don't help me understand the issue better. I guess you are trying to use Adaptive in a Model State, right? If yes, that is not a fully supported workflow. Basically, Adaptive and non-Primary Model States are mutually exclusive at the moment. Only an Adaptive component can be adaptive only in one hosting Model State. Also, when the component itself contains non-Primary Model States, the Adaptive ability will be suppressed.

I suspect you may need to use iLogic Design Copy to spawn the variations. Please share the files here. Forum experts can help take a closer look and provide alternative workflows.

Use a mate constraint between the face and the midplane.

You can then drive the constraint with a parameter if you want them to both move using a form.

You could actually build this with iLogic so that when the table extends, the middle piece automatically appears.

 

Some of your parts are very over constrained and causing problems as well. Take a look at top down multibody for something like this. You would then need very few constraints.
