Mold/impression/negative of curved part

After searching and then coming up empty-handed for a result for a similar issue to mine, I'm hoping one of you guys may have a resolution. I need to make a tool/guide to set on top of the part shown in the screenshot. To be more exact, only in the area I have penciled in. I have tried the "Sculpt" tool, but the curves of the host part are kicking my behind. After sculpting I tried the "Delete Face" with healing but Inventor is having a problem resolving the command. I've also tried to create a "Mold" with no luck. Is there anybody out there that knows how I can make a formed tool/guide to the part?

Also, I am unable to share the part file for confidential reasons.

Try modeling a solid extrusion on top of your existing bodies, then use split with Solid Selection ON to use the curved part as a cutting tool. Then delete whichever side/body you won't need (or pick the correct side to keep under the "Keep Side" option).

It looks like you're actually trying to do a stamping die of some sort rather than a mold, right? Good news is, it's really not too difficult to get what I think you're going for here, but it does require a starting point. Do you have a different-but-similar part that could be shared? It would be a lot easier to work with something that already exists rather than generating something like that myself.

Unable to use the curved part as the cut tool.

If I have time later I will post the results here...

You'll need to Modify > Copy Object into a surface or repaired Geometry, then use Combine > Cut or Split (with a surface) to get a negative. The hard part here is getting rid of one of the halves after this. You either have to work more before the operation to make your new solid extrusion flush to the boundaries of your object, or just sculpt away the "burrs" of your resulting solid body after the operations.
