modeling order

Hello?
My name is SW Park.
I have a question about the Inventor modeling.
When doing 3D modeling with Inventor, I know that it is convenient to edit later by doing extrude -> hole -> chamfer.
If I receive drawings that are not in this order, is there a way to arrange them in this order without redrawing them?

I'm not exactly sure what you mean by "I know that it is convenient to edit later by doing extrude -> hole -> chamfer."?

If you are talking about the browser structure, then the order is very important. Inventor and most other parametric programs start at the top and work down. So the model is built going through each feature in order. The order of features is very important and can cause errors if the order is changed and dependencies are broken.

Changing the order should only be done for modelling reasons, either you are getting an error and re-arranging the browser fixes the error, or if you realise that you need to apply a feature later on that would effect a previous feature negatively, you can move that feature after.

Does this answer your question or did I completely miss the point of your question?

If you simply want to rearrange the order of the browser names (operations) in the tree you can do this by dragging the feature/browser name  to the workflow order you want as long as you do not bypass the feature or sketch it was created from. This is due to the history based timeline that is being used.

Hi SW,

I think I know what you are looking for. You would like to manipulate geometry just in time without history. I suggest you look into Fusion 360. It offers flexible modeling workflows. It has Direct Modeling, Parametric Modeling, and Mesh Modeling environments. Please try it out. It may work better for you.

Many thanks!
