model but no CAD drawings

 I have not found this information anywhere by my client keep sending me this model more and more but not the CAD drawings. Am new to this inventor software and am trying to find the reason why this. is it advisable to send the model and the CAD  vendors to make their own drawings?

Hi Simon. Usually, the person/company who designs the model would also create drawings to make sure that it is made exactly as they want it. Drawings can be in DWG or IDW format for Inventor.

In some select cases suppliers might only need an STP export or 3D model to input onto their CNC, laser cutting, or whatever tool to create the parts. Even in these cases, however, 99% of the time they or their clients would prefer having the 2D drawings to accompany in case there is any dispute about the sizes, tolerances, etc.

At the end of the day, "the client is always right", and if you can build with the 3D only, you should maybe just write your contract to cover any possible issues. I could see this working best when both client and supplier belong to the same conglomerate or company cluster, in which case the integration is better.

Are you producing parts from this CAD model or incorporating the model into something else?

In my world it is common to exchange just CAD models with clients as part of the design process but, if you are manufacturing parts, you also need the drawing to define the tolerances.
