Can someone please explain why the Inventor FEA Analysis (in Modal Analysis Mode) shows a 6+ inch deflection on a piece of 1/4" Stainless Steel?

Please see attached analysis results.

Thanks in advance.

I think displacement is meaningless in Inventor Modal Analysis.

Years ago they indicated they would remove the units and then never did.

So you're saying the results are simply exaggerated for viewing purposes?

If so, that's fine - I'll just let my client know that.

He builds large commercial AC units & wanted to make sure the fan/motor frequencies applied during operation didn't cause failures.

At least this analysis tells him what freqs to avoid.

Appreciate the insight.

You can adjust the visual representation of exaggeration - but it is my understanding that this is meaningless in Modal Analsysis.

Also (I didn't look at you attached report) be careful of analysis of long skinny parts.

@TheCADWhisperer is right. The deformation values in modal analysis is meaningless.
