Missing files

Hi, I will try to explain what I am looking for. A while ago our company server was infected by virus changing some files into ones with 'locky' extension. I storage my Inventor projects on the server. It was easy job for our IT guy but after a while I found out my computer was infected as well. I lost files with settings and libraries eg: bend tables. I thought I would install the program again to get the missing files but installing whole package does not work. So now is my question: how to get the missing files in the easiest and the most harmless way? Regards Zdzislaw

restore from backups?

If these files were custom then they won't be restored with a reinstall..

What files specifically are you missing?

I lost all design data, only folders left. I can work with inventor files but I cannot modify some files. I cannot use a backup as I can loose later two week work.

Out of the box "design data" (as in the exact spot design data is installed when Inventor is installed) or have you moved it/customized it and changed the location via your project file?

I think by default it puts it in "c:/users/public/public documents/Inventor 2016/Design data"

Have you looked there?

If you have backups you should be able to selectively grab what you want without running a complete restore too..

If you have installed Inventor there should be a temp location where all the extracted files reside and the files should be there too..

Check your backup software, you may be able to restore just the design data folder.  If you can't do that, restore the backup to a test computer, either different hardware or Virtual Machine.  Copy the design data folder from the test machine to the production machine.

If not, you get to re-make all the missing custom design data.

Looks like time to re-work your backup plans/procedures.

Yes, your are right about the folder: "c:/users/public/public documents/Inventor 2016/Design data" - there are/were kept the files and they were infected and removed afterwards. It seems the best way is to ask my IT guy to pick the files from the backups:( (I am afraid I will end up with total mess because of him) Thanks for your help
