Mirror/Reuse Query

I'm just checking that I'm not missing something before I go begging on the Ideastation.

I know how to mirror parts (Which nets me a new part with the 'MIR' suffix), or 'reuse' which as far as I can tell is akin to a copy command.  What I want to be able to do is mirror symmetrical parts (or assemblies) about a plane and not end up with new part names generated. The context is in creating mounts for a truck chassis. I want to be able to position say a half dozen of them along one side of the frame, then mirror them along the centre plane and end up with a BOM that lists 12 mounts, not 6 mounts and 6 mirror mounts. Is this possible, or do I need to stick with manually copying and constraining each one?

Will the "Reuse" option work for you in the Mirror command for the selected components? You have a choice of Mirroring or Reusing the components. The Reuse add additional "Instances" of the mirrored item. I suspect this is what you want. Just change the icon adjacent to the part from the green "Mirror" to the yellow "+" to reuse.

Assembly mirror command provides "Reuse" option. Just change green bullets to yelow. Reuisng means, that no new component is created(with _MIR suffix), only new instance of source component is placed into the active assembly and is positioned to look like mirror of source instance. Reuse option is suitable for components that are symmetrical at least according to one of base components plane(XY or YZ or ZX). In this case reused instance looks like real mirror and mirror command is able to recreate all assembly features and assambly constraints on mirrored component.
