Mesh Failures

Hi everyone,

I am trying to instigate a stress analysis on my component using Inventor 2024, however, I have just started to encounter mesh failures with no error codes present. I changed the average element size to try and resolve this but to no avail. When I suppress a mirrored component from the design, the mesh executes, but as soon as it is unsuppressed and the mesh is updated it fails.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Can you Attach your *.ipt file here?

(Or at least run Manage >Rebuild All and then attach screenshot of expanded browser in modeling environment.)

Certainly. Please find attached my .ipt file.

I am a fairly new student to inventor, so apologies for any bizarre processes I may have done.

Why are some strainer surfaces divided?

Are you referring to the hexagonal elements? If so I believe this occurred due to the way in which I constructed them. They were derived from a separate .ipt file. I first sketched 4 hexagons on top of each other (I will attach a screenshot below) and then offset internally and arrayed to get the desired length. After extruding those separations where visible.

These surfaces and edges have no right to exist.

haha I mean, I agree with you. I wish they didn't, I'm not sure how or why they exist. However, with these abominations aside, it does provide a mesh with one of the hexagonal structures present but not with two. Also the hexagonal structure will generate a mesh in its own ipt.
