McAfee Strikes Again!

We use Windows Defender for anti-virus.  Inventor has been running fine.  Today we received a PDF files that stated it needed Adobe Acrobat Reader to open with all its features.  So to see the PDF we installed that but the PDF still didn't function correctly.  Unknowingly that install also installed McAfee antivirus.  Uninstalled Acrobat and McAfee.  Started working in Inventor again and then started getting this message when saving a part (ipt).

Closed Inventor and restarted, same thing.  Copied the part to another name, opened the assembly in a new Inventor session and same thing.  Used Task Manager and killed all McAfee processes.  Removed all McAfee files and folders and deleted registry entries referring to McAfee.  Restarted my computer and everything is fine now.  So I figure McAfee tweaked my system to where Inventor files were being scanned but was odd that even after killing and deleting McAfee it still gave me that error.

Just putting that out there in case someone else runs into this.

There is a page or two asking if you want to also install this and that.

Don't just click ok on every page.

There should be a way to block McAfee install .....

Installation file name changes.  So blocking file name won't work.

This is why I periodically take an image of my OS drive (using Acronis True Image, Macrium Reflect Free, etc.). Then you can revert back to a point in time when everything was running fine. Why more people don't do this is beyond me. (I also create my own problems which led me to do this in the first place).

With Windows and every program getting updates, periodically became monthly and weekly.

Nope, no pages.  The link to download was being generated by Smartsheet and the install did not ask anything about McAfee.  Trust me, that I don't trust McAfee.   And I guess I should not trust Smartsheet.

They have to ask.  Or else you can sue them.

You have to watch every popup carefully and not just click ok.
