Materials in derived partst from multibody part.

Hi

I very often use multi-body parts (sheet metal, standard and combined - sheet and solid in one part).

From some time, I have a problem with assigning materials to parts derived from these multi-body parts.

When I assign material to derivative part, and after editing multi body part, the material in the derivative part resets to default.

Also, when rebuilding assemblies, in some derived parts material is reset to default, and some do not.

Im observing the same problem in Inventor 2018 and 2019.

Does someone have an idea what is the source of that problem.

This is a quite a problem for me, because several times I have sent drawings with material set as default. Also, after every rebuild I have to assign materials to dozens of parts.

Can you confirm that it is the material that you are having a problem with, or the Appearance?

Appearances can be derived from the master file. Materials cannot.

When I assign to a derived part (not multi-body) material for example stainless steel 1.4301 (from my own library). After rebuild/edit the multi-body part, assigned material in derived part goes back to default.

You can see the problem on attached movie.

Hi! This depends on the option in Derive. Open the derive part and edit the derive feature node. Is "Link sheet metal styles" option checked? If yes, the sheet metal styles in the derive part will be driven by the source multi-solid body part. If you don't want it to happen, uncheck the option and the make sure the proper sheet metal style is selected in the derived part.

Many thanks!
