Master Rep Showing Part Working Features

I want visibility turned off for all working features (like Sketches & Planes...etc) in the Master Rep of the assembly but just one part will not behave. (From here on out, the aforementioned visible "working features" will be shown as "WF")

I opened the rebellious part and the visibility of the WF are all turned off. (Thinking I had assembled the part in the assembly with those WF visible) So I return to the assembly. While in the Master rep, I delete the part from the assembly and re-assemble. Voila! No visible WF. I thought I had outsmarted the tyrant.

I switched to another rep and there are the same part WF, visible. Ah!!! Same with all the other reps. Not to be outsmarted, I began to turn off the wayward WF in each of the reps, thinking maybe the WF weren't turning off in the Master rep because they were visible in the other reps. Not the case. Even after turning visibility off in each rep, those blasted WF still show up in the Master rep.

To add salt to my ego, while in the Master rep, I turn the WF visibility off. Finally...I save the assembly and it asks me to create a new rep. So now I have an extra rep the way I want the Master rep to be. Is this normal!? Please help my insanity...

Hi Ethan,

Master Design View Rep means no overrides. At the assembly level, it strips off any override (visibility or appearance). Everything will become visible. And, the state cannot be altered and saved to Master Design View Rep (locked). You need to save it to a custom DVR.

At the part level, Master DVR also means no overrides. However, any object can be made invisible or have different appearance and the change can be saved as no-overrides state, i.e. Master DVR.

Many thanks!

Hi @johnsonshiue ! Why can't any working feature be turned off in the Master rep of an assembly but can in a part?

Hi Ethan,

I don't have a good explanation. But, I think it is a designed behavior. Think about this. Assembly can have n number of components (different documents) at the first level and also in n level deep. To allow "as is" behavior in Master DVR, it will have to track all "as is" changes within the assembly. There will be performance impact. To make things simple, the "as is" state is everything is on without any override. It only needs to track when something has been overridden.

The part behaves similarly to certain degree. It is just that the "as is" state is only by itself.

Many thanks!

Again, thank you for the explanation. It is a bug that needs to be fixed. For me, it's just one part within the assembly that wants to show a working feature and a section (with dimensions) and all the other parts are fine. One filter is all that would be needed, "All working features off" saving to the Master Rep and all Reps. I won't belabor this anymore. Appreciate your time @johnsonshiue !

Requesting this fix in the "Idea Board" since there is no acceptable solution.
