Loft feature failure

Hello

I have drawn 2 sketches depicting rolled up cloth having an overlap 3,5 mm on bottom and a lot more overlap upside as seen on sketches. The part file is enclosed.

I want to make a loft feature from these sketches, but inventor sees still some conflict in sketches. I have tried increasing the distance between contours, but it didnt help.

Please help to solve this issue

Hi

It is worth reading the messages - the Loft operation resulted in the creation of self-intersecting surfaces.

You have several options:

  1. Correct the sketches so that the curvatures are more continuous and do not cause twisting collisions. Adjust the spacing on the helix to make the pitch uniform.
  2. Create multiple superficial Lofts, then stitch and thicken.

The first issue that I see is that your ends are different - edge should be perpendicular to the curve.

But I would not include the thickness at this stage.

Only sketch either the inside or the outside of the material, not both.

Use surface modeling and then Thicken to get the material thickness.

Now, the issue is how to get the surface(s).

I don't think Loft is going to work - or will take several Lofts and a lot of work.

One of the Sweep options might work, but I didn't try as first I would have to clean up your sketch (single curve tangent continuous in each sketch).
