Hello,

Why does the lockfile is still running even when i close all documents and Inventor is just running without any loaded file. The lockfile only closes when i completly quit inventor.

The thing is that i recognized when i had opened the 3D model and my collegue makes the idw afterwards he get some crashes in the idw because my lockfile did not close even when i closed the iam.

I had to close inventor completly to close the lockfile. Is that normal?

Regards Frank

Hi Frank

It is possible that some of the operations you have performed have locked the file and it cannot be released.
In order to solve the issue, you can make a new project file identical to the old one. If you name the new ipj exactly as the old one, it would be identical in name and structure which should allow to use it as the previous project file.  Please keep the old one in another folder just in case. This procedure will be quicker than trying to find out what is locking the old one.

Also check that you have the latest version of the Autodesk Network License Manager; also try to set all 3rd party addin to not auto-load and restart Inventor.

I hope my suggestion helps you.

Hello,

we only work on the default ipj. I can try to make a new project (thx for idea). But i am right that the lockfile has to close when i close the file? Or does it quits only when inventor is completly closed?

Hi Frank

The lockfile will not let others modify the project while the same is being use in your Inventor, because the project is still active, you need to make the project available for multiusers, this can be done using the legacy projects option.

This suggestion was posted by Duncan Anderson in a related topic:

"If you have a lot of users accessing the same project/files you should consider using either the old legacy Projects of Shared
and Semi-Isolated.

These can be enable by going to Tools --> Application Options --> General(tab) --> Enable creation of legacy project types and
tick/check the tick/check box.

Or you should really be looking at using Vault or ProductStream, which also has a Check Out and Check In facility for files."

Additionally I will share information about Legacy projects,

I hope this information has helped you and answered your questions.

Thank you, that was helpfull, the default projects are single projects. I have to create a shared project like you have posted.
