Local vs Vault/Networkdrive

Hello All,
I work in a small drawing office, mostly from home, sometimes at the office.
The thing is that templates, design data, sketched symbols, content center are located at a company network drive and Inventor users need to have stable/fast internet connection to get access to this company drive via VPN. This results in an awful Inventor performance.
Having these files on my local machine would improve the performance, but kills the company desire to centrally manage templates.
Could it be an option to put these files is the vault, so they can be managed centrally, and let the Inventor users "Get" them every now and then, when updates are available? Are there downsides that I haven't thought about?
Is there a better approach thinkable to suit these two interests best?
Suggestions are welcome 😉
Thanks!
