Linking Excel

Hi

Is there a way to link a specific worksheet in an excel file to the parameter in Inventor.

And is there a way to use parametric linked with excel to add a certain number of parts in an assembly file, for example, say that in excel the number of bolts is 10, is there a way to link the excel to the assembly file to have 10 bolts parts.

Thanks in Advance

If Excel tells Inventor to use ten bolts, where is Inventor going to place them?

You could use Excel to dictate the number of bolts in a pattern though.

iLogic can manage all this for you using the manage component code.

This is for a project where i am creating a design spreadsheet, which when the design is completed it needs to be automatically export an Inventor 3D drawing of the file. Its a bolted timber connection. I have mamgd to create the timber with holes using patterns. I am just stuck on assembling the bolts

Put the bolt in the original hole and then use the pattern to pattern the rest.

When the pattern changes, the number of bolts will automatically change.

Hi @Anonymous

In addition to using the component pattern, you can link an assembly parameter to the part and drive the design using an basic ilogic rule and form as shown in this video.

I hope this helps.
Best of luck to you in all of your Inventor pursuits,
Curtis
