Keyboard navigation for object browser (Inventor 2016)

Hello,

isn't there any possibility to navigate through the object browser with the keyboard.

Inuitively I would think that it should be at least be possible to browse through the object with the arrow-key - but this doesnt work or I didn't find the way to make it work.

When I work with old assemblys I often have the situation that there are many screws and nuts where I don't know the location which results in many mouseclicks. I always try to avoid unnecessary work for the right hand.

Thanks for your time.

Do you use the "Find in Browser" functionality?

That allows you to quickly find parts in the model browser by simply selecting them in the modeling area and then performing the find in browser function..

No need to scroll up/down in the model browser..

I'm not sure about the older version you are using as its been a while but the model browser in 2019 anyways allows you to use arrow keys to navigate up/down and even use left/right to expand/collapse folders..

I faintly remember similar working in older versions too.. But find in browser is faster for me and has a shortcut for it too.. (Ctrl+B or other)

Hello,

thank you for your answer.

I know the "find in browser" functionallity but for the case I descriped it doesnt help me.

But if the arrow keys can be used to navigate through the browser in the new version of Inventor, the problem is already solved.

I only have to find the time, to update to the new version 🙂

Same behavior as before in 2019, no change.

New observation for me: Keyboard End key does the same as Zoom Selected

Hi! It is true that you cannot use keyboard keys to navigate the nodes in the browser. You do need to use a pointing device. On 2018 and later, the browser offers an instant search ability. You can search for an item by typing in the search field. The found items will appear. Unfortunately, such ability is not available in 2017 and earlier. Would you be able to upgrade to 2018 or 2019?

Many thanks!
