Hello everyone,

In the Autodesk Inventor Drawing environment I assign Layers to Parts in an Assembly. However in Projected or Section Views the Parts default back to the default Layers. Is there any way to remedy this and keep the Part Layers from the Base View of an assembly?

Hi! The default drawing layer assignment is dictated by Object Default in a given standard. You will need to change that in the Styles Editor -> Standard -> Object Default.

I could be wrong but I don't recall there is a way to separate parts from assemblies since they are all visible view geometry. Please share an example that you are working on. I would like to understand the behavior better.

Many thanks!

As an example here in the base view of this assembly I place the top "fork-like" part in a different layer(Select as edges-Annotate tab-Layer). In projected views the part switches back to the Default Layer. Is there a way to keep parts/ assemblies in the layers they have in the base view, in order to avoid going to every view I create and changing it again?

Hi! Unfortunately, no. The default layer is dictated by Object Default settings.

Many thanks!
