IV 2027 User Interface windows resize - snap to main window issues

So add this to the bug list I guess as it did not happen on our 2025 install.

What : 2027 User Interface windows

Setup : IV 2027 ,Laptop 1920 x 1080, Main 4k 3840 x 2160, Secondary 1920 x 1080

Issue - multi monitor setup can no longer move the user interface windows from the main 4K monitor displaying Inventor to the other monitors and then resize them.

Effect:  On attempt to resize a user interface window on the left monitor it snaps back to the main monitor. Often to a tiny sized window. You can only resize the user interface window on the main inventor window and then move it to a different window. Also if a menu expands on the model browser one the right screen you can't see it as is goes off screen and you can't see or select then. Also if you resize in  the wrong way on the right screen it gets where you can no longer drag it because the top of the user interface window is now off screen.

That makes it very hard to resize the user interface and unusable in some cases.

And before I get all the flame replies that it is my monitors or windows, this did not happen running Inventor 2025 and is happening on all the other workstations in our group in the same way even with different  or same resolution multi monitor setups.

These menus are not selectable and you can not get the tooltips with the menu on the left or right screen.

Alt + space then M then arrow keys

You were very lucky with 2025 - Inventor has never been particularly friendly with multi monitor setups.

We need to work on getting managers to accept that Inventor users need one huge monitor. There are 40"+ ones that are only $500-600ish.

I was an early adopter of multi monitors - people would walk by my desk and stop and come back and ask how I was working on two computers at once. But there were always little quirks with Inventor, one day a window would suddenly decide that is was supposed to pop up somewhere - lately, some, just some, iLogic windows want to have their center at the top right corner of the laptop's screen.

Yup well aware of Alt + space then M then arrow keys, not the solution for a built in problem just a band aid to try and deal with it.

Also in this case that just moves the secondary menu around and still does not let me select anything or get the tooltips for it.

Good guess it a 4K scaling issue as these type of secondary menus have been a problem before just not in the base user interface menus.

As well I don't think the solution is to dictate what monitors users need to have.

(I'm for sure not finding a 40" monitor where I'm from for $600 maybe a 32" if your lucky)

I agree that there have been 4k glitches, multi monitor issues for awhile but Inventor is far from the only software that utilizes multi monitors.

I have been using multi monitors for Inventor for so many released I can't even count. This is the first time it is actually not just a minor glitch but broken as far as I am concerned.

It compounds even more when you are switching between different monitor setups between different work locations where you have to reset everything every time.

Hi! If you are using multiple displays, please go to Windows Display settings and select the recommended resolution and scale values. Also make the display hosting Inventor.exe the main display.

Many thanks!

Everything is set to "recommended". Inventor on main. (middle in my case)

Still get this with the model browser (part) on  the "right" screen,

NorthernCADMonkey_0-1779221946162.png

cut off, can not select, can not move.

If I move the model browser to the "main" screen (middle on my setup and "main" for inventor) it works ......unless you try and move the model browser back to the right screen.

Then you can move and select the pop up menu only on the main screen because it is stuck there. You can't move it off and if you try again it is right back to how it is at the start.

Again Left (laptop 1920x1080) , Middle (3840x2160) , Right (1080x1920) all different but se to their defaults.

Would it be nice to all the same sure , but you use what you have.

Outlook, Teams, pdf viewer ....they all seem to deal with it, so why not Inventor.

Not to mention this all becomes pointless if you try anything on the left (laptop) as you cant even resize without it snapping back to the middle (main) screen.

And this is happening on other setups in our group as well not just mine so it's a repeatable glitch

For this multiple monitor issue, can you please attach a video? We're looking into this and don't see such a problem.

Thank you in advance.

This is getting seriously ridiculous, latest glitch is that if you have a user interface (model tree) on the right monitor and you resize it, it expands to infinity on that monitor an you can not resize it down again.

This is not hardware as I just switch to laptop, monitor 1 and monitor 2 all with the exact resolution, scale and dpi. (none are 4k now so the 4k excuse is dead IMO)

Also I can't use any of the new mini tools on single click in the model browser as you can select any of them.

Laptop left / 4K middle (main) / 4K right monitor. Looking at 4k "set to main" middle monitor, model browser on rh 4k monitor.

Trying to change a section view, can't select or move anything can only enter a value.

IF I move the model browser to the 4K middle (main) monitor then I can actually select everything for the menus.

.....but you cant move this menu to any other monitor

If you move the model browser back to the RH monitor and close the command then try to restart the command then the menu open on that monitor BUT you can't select it just like before.

Basically you have to have everything on one monitor (all user interface) otherwise you get this.

Again that is moving between identical make, model, and settings 4k to 4K monitors so not like there is a mismatch

End of the day this seems to be just plain broken 4K compatibility

UPDATE,  slightly better if you set the windows program compatibility high dpi scaling override to system.

Still does not fix it totally but better than not being usable period
