Issues with loft and other features

I'm having issues with the Loft tool. I am attempting to cut into a solid using sketches derived from projected geometry. I get the error code "The attempted operation had problems trimming and discarding faces. Try with different inputs." When I select the message to see what it is referencing, it shows random faces that don't exist in the part. I originally found a workaround to this by making the loft into a new solid, then using the combine tool and cutting into my original solid. However, with this specific part, this also does not work. Now I get the error message, "The feature as specified did not change the number of faces (and may not have affected the part). Accept the feature that resulted, or use Edit Sketch or Edit Feature to change the feature dimension." Again, this exact cut I am attempting to make has no issue in other parts with slightly different dimensions; all these parts are the same concept and same shape, just with different values. I have attached pictures of the error codes and what they show. I am happy to provide any other resources, whether it be photos, videos, or the files themselves.Autodesk1.JPGAutodesk2.JPG

Hi! This might be caused by imperfect geometry or a modeling bug. I suspect there should be a simpler approach to create the design. Please share the part here. I would like to understand the issue better.

Many thanks!

Here is the file. I also added this photo to illustrate the goal. I am trying to make a cut into the back to make an opening. I then duplicate the part and instead of using cut, I use intersect and create a cap from there. I appreciate you help! Autodesk3.JPG
