Issue With 3 Second Delay After Simple Commands

Hello,

I'd like to reach out for support from the community to dig into the source of this issue.

I've recently taken on design work from my home computer, and have noticed a frustrating issue versus my work computer. Any time I trigger a simple command (e.g. moving an unconstrainted part in an assembly, constraint command, extrude command, moving items in the model tree, etc.) there is a 3 second delay as visualized by the Windows blue loading wheel popping up three times, in between triggering the command and the action being performed.

This has greatly altered my flow state and taken a large hit on my efficiency. I wouldn't mind if this occurred during processes that are expected to take a bit more effort e.g. saving assemblies or suppressing parts, but I have become beyond frustrated waiting for something as simple as the constraint window to pop up. Note that this occurs on any size of assembly or part, so it is not a memory issue necessarily, though I don't have the most up to date hardware:

Processor: AMD FX-6300, 3.5 Ghz

GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970

With 24GB RAM

I have hardware set to Performance in Application Options, and use very conservative modeling techniques (no flexible or adaptive subassemblies or constraints, reasonable part to assembly ratio, no redundant constraints). I have a funny feeling this is being caused by one specific setting or issue, but I would be forever grateful to have this problem solved as it is impeding my ability to use Inventor at the moment. Any advice is much appreciated.

Edit: I must not forget to mention that I am using Vault with all parts and assemblies checked out over a VPN. Not sure if this has much to do with the delay or not either.

Hi Patrick,

One quick test to see if it is Vault related is to get all the files you are working on locally and then unload Vault Add-In. Does the 3-second delay still happen?

Many thanks!

Johnson,

I can now confirm that the 3 second delay is entirely non-existent with the Vault add-in unloaded. So this must be Vault related - do you have any suggestions on why this issue is caused by Vault, and a method of solving it? Thanks

Hi Patrick,

I will need to work with Vault team to understand this issue better.

Many thanks!

I have determined a temporary solution, which is to simply check out all relevant files, unload the Vault add-in, and then reload once ready to check those files back in. This does not take much extra effort and certainly resolves the issue, so thank you for pointing me in that direction.

Hi Patrick,

This could be VPN network related. When Vault access the server, it will have to go through VPN and find the server.

Many thanks!
