I'm sure whatever I need is in content center already, but is there an efficient technique for regular solids? I'm guessing 3d sketch with equal constraints?

Outside of that (what you already indicated) you could look at freeforming (tools and functions)..

You should see your doctor if your solids are not regular...

Hi! Aside from other experts' comments, I would ask for clarification. Could you define "efficient" and "regular" in the context here? Are you trying to create something fast? Have you try adding Primitive tools (right-click on Ribbon -> check Primitive)? It allows you to create a box, a cylinder, a torus or a sphere quickly. Or, you can use Content Center to drag in pre-defined features.

Many thanks!

See the google search referenced in my previous reply

Additionally, I'd like to draw your attention to this video;

I would respectfully submit that the fact that this takes ~90 seconds in Solidworks whereas in Inventor it takes (to the best of my knowledge) significantly longer might be a source of concern.

I guess it might be a source of concern if users were routinely trying to create dodecahedrons in Inventor (or SW).  I've been using Inventor for 17 years, and have never run into a situation where I needed to do that.  I suspect that is true for a large majority of other Inventor users, too.  It would be nice to have when needed, but not one that I want Autodesk to place a high priority on.

Hi Joseph,

Many thanks for sharing the video! I took a quick look. First, the video was replayed at 3X speed so it looks as if it is fast and easy. Also, the design parameters were all predefined as scripted. I am not sure if INV would fare worse when all things are available. I know areas that INV is not as good as SWX (so is the other way around). But, this particular workflow does not seem to be the case.

Like I said repeatedly, INV and SWX both have a lot of room for improvement. We are direct competitors. Our focus is to make INV a better choice. I leave it to SWX team to work on their stuff.

Many thanks!
