Is it Possible to Reuse Section Line Sketches in Inventor Drawings

All,

Good morning!  I was recently asked if it was possible to reuse section cut sketches in Inventor drawings.  The desire was to create both standard and an aligned section cut view from the same sketch, but I cannot seem to find a way to do this.  While I can recreate the sketch pretty easily, it would be nice to simply reuse the sketch that is already there.  If anyone has any ideas, I'd love to hear them.  Please also let me know if you have any questions.  Thanks in advance for any assistance, hope all is well and have a most blessed day!

Peace,
Pete

Could you provide an example of what you're looking for?  It sounds to me like you want 2 of the same section views for some reason I'm not thinking of.

Given that the sketched line is associated to the section cut, and that is associated to the section view, no, they cannot be used for two different section views.

Not sure how or why you would want two different section views with different letter designations to be associated to the same sketch line.  I would think this would breed problems when it came to editing the individual sections if editing was needed.  Unless I am missing the pint of what you are asking.

@Cadmanto

Good afternoon!  I can see why this would be a weird request and it is not something I would normally do, but the standard projected view allows the opportunity to create a projected isometric view, which can be useful for visualizations in some situations.  However, the aligned section view offers better capabilities for measurement along the entire section line, but cannot be projected as an isometric view.  I believe the user wanted to try and do both things from the single section sketch, as both pieces of information could be useful.  Again, I admit that's probably a rare occurrence, but wanted to see if it was possible to reuse the sketch.  Hope this helps to clarify the intent and I'll let them know it's not currently possible.  Appreciate the response and have a most blessed day!

Peace,

Pete

Hi Pete,

I am sorry I am not aware of a workflow to do that. Each section view has a unique sketch, which cannot be shared.

Many thanks!

You can Project an isometric view from the section view and then just drag that to the proper place.  This is what I figured you wanted, I just wanted to make sure.
